Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Refuge Game Hosting ("RGH", "we", "us"). By signing in or renting a server you agree to them.

1. Who we are

RGH is operated by an individual hobbyist in Portland, Oregon, USA. We rent private game-server instances by the month. We are not affiliated with any game publisher, platform holder, or Steam.

2. Your account

We use Steam OpenID to identify you. You are responsible for keeping your Steam account secure; anyone who can sign in to Steam as you can manage your RGH servers. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be 13 years old or older to use RGH. If you're under 18 you must have a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for billing.

3. The service

When you rent a server you get a dedicated container instance running the selected game's official dedicated server software, configured per your tier (player slots, RAM). You can edit server settings, browse files, upload mods, and use the in-app console subject to the Acceptable Use Policy.

We don't guarantee any specific uptime, performance, or feature set. We do our best to keep servers running and may move workloads between hosts without notice. We may take a server offline briefly for maintenance, security updates, or to comply with the law.

4. Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Prices are shown in US dollars. Stripe handles your card details — we never see them. You authorise Stripe to charge your payment method each month until you cancel.

If a payment fails Stripe will retry per its standard schedule. After all retries fail we'll mark your subscription past-due and may stop the server until billing is restored.

5. Your data

You own the world saves, configs, mods, and other files you create on your server. We hold them as a custodian — we don't access your save data except as needed to operate the service or as required by law.

If you cancel we retain your server's files for 30 days so you can resubscribe. After 30 days we permanently delete everything. Back up anything you want to keep.

6. Mods and third-party content

You may install mods on your server provided you have the right to use them. We don't endorse, verify, or warrant any third-party mod. Mods you install run inside your container with limited host access; we are not liable for damage they cause to your save or for any malware they contain.

Some game publishers' terms (notably Steamworks games) restrict commercial use of their dedicated server software. By renting a server you confirm you've read and accept the upstream publisher's terms.

7. Termination

You can cancel at any time from the Stripe billing portal linked in your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without refund, if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or if your activity threatens the stability or legality of the service for others.

8. Disclaimers and liability

RGH is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost saves, lost playtime, or lost in-game progress.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms; when we do we'll post the new version at this URL and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced via the dashboard. Continued use after the change means you accept the update.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.
